Employee fraud
This is an example of a matter which in most businesses will represent serious or gross misconduct. This may be defined in the contract as justifying instant dismissal. It will generally be appropriate, even in these cases, however, to pause before taking disciplinary action and perhaps take advice. You may find that a form of agreed termination may work better for both parties concerned in these situations.
As in every disciplinary situation the employer is required to carry out a reasonable investigation before coming to a reasoned decision after having given the employee a reasonable opportunity to have their say.
