Temple Heelis has seen impressive development over recent years and has certainly come a long way since the days of William Heelis, who was married to Beatrix Potter. William Heelis met Beatrix Potter when she visited his office to get legal help to purchase property and farmland in the Lake District. It is even possible to visit his original office in Hawkshead where he had his legal practice. To this day, residential and commercial conveyancing continues to play a major part of the firm’s business.

Following a rapid increase in our regional and national business, changes came about in 2001 in the way of expansion. Largely due to growth in our personal injury and volume conveyancing work, we moved to 20,000 square feet of newly refurbished and modern offices in Kendal, Cumbria. Modernising the firm with state of the art technology was vital as it has enabled us to keep all our clients better informed. It has also speeded up certain processes that in turn have enabled us to provide effective solutions quicker.

Of course, this would not be possible without highly trained staff who are made up of both legal and non-legal specialists. We enjoy a friendly atmosphere here at Temple Heelis. This approach certainly makes us amenable and easy to work with. However, we regard our attention to detail, an understanding of your needs and our ability to clarify and deal with complicated problems quickly as the fundamental reasons why our clients like to use our services over and over again.

Nevertheless, we are not happy to sit on our laurels! We have recently extended our litigation department by appointing a new family solicitor who specialises in the financial disputes that arise through family breakdown. We have also assembled together one of the best Wills, Trusts & Probate teams in the north-west, while our commercial department aims to enlist the skills of yet another solicitor to deal with commercial property work in Lancashire as well as Cumbria.
