Exciting new career opportunities at leading Lakeland Law Firm Temple Heelis

Record levels of growth and new work have seen the creation of several new positions within Temple Heelis to help drive the firm’s continued growth and development.

“We are actively looking for talented individuals to join our teams,” commented the firm’s managing partner Jamie Hamilton. “We have a fantastic firm with exceptional people, a great work-life balance, and outstanding clients who instruct us on interesting and professionally challenging work.”

He continued “We wanted to offer any interested candidates a glimpse into our firm and our world so we have made a video which can be found on our website and we encourage anyone considering a move to take a look: www.templeheelis.co.uk/careers

Jamie adds “We are particularly interested at the moment in talking to any commercial property lawyers who might be considering a career or lifestyle move. We have particular expertise in the hospitality and leisure sector, retail, professional services (including healthcare), manufacturing, working with fast-paced privately owned/entrepreneurial businesses, property developers and investors, and real estate finance. Steeped in the Cumbrian landscape and communities, Temple Heelis’s property expertise includes commercial, rural and agricultural and residential clients and transactions. Our networks with leading professionals in the property sector are long-established and ever-expanding, with work and relationships well beyond Cumbria itself.”

Temple Heelis is one of Cumbria’s leading and longest-standing law firms, the only firm with offices in the ‘golden triangle’ of Kendal, Windermere and Ambleside. Known as modern and progressive, the firm also has a strong and proud history spanning 200 years. A particular claim to fame is that Temple Heelis acted for Beatrix Potter from the time she visited the firm’s offices for legal advice on the purchase of her first farm. The ‘rest is history’, as they say, and she subsequently married then-senior partner, William Heelis!

Head of HR, Finance and Business Services, Emma Rawlinson is an individual whose career has literally taken off since she joined the firm 15 years ago.

“I am the firm’s first non-lawyer director,” comments Emma. “I have always had a passion for numbers and Temple Heelis has enabled me to progress from a cashier in Accounts to playing a full role in the strategy of the firm and participating in all our major decisions, undertaking finance and HR qualifications while working for the firm.”

She continued “One of my roles is to help recruit candidates for our vacancies and ensure each person is successful, offering induction and mentoring, and being a ‘sounding board’. One of the key advantages of working for Temple Heelis is the culture of the firm. A number of our people have come from larger City firms and chosen to live and work in this beautiful part of the country, while others are local people who have grown up here. This combination gives us the best of both worlds – we have a ‘local’ feel and a genuinely friendly environment, yet we are also progressive and outward-looking, ambitious to be a great place to work and deliver a high quality service to every client. Furthermore, we are fully IT-enabled, with secure remote working and flexible arrangements for everyone.”

Temple Heelis’s culture and environment is one of ‘everyone is an equal’ and the firm genuinely values each person, encourages their unique contributions, and empowers them to be the best in all they do.
