CONVEYANCER – RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY DEPARTMENT
Temple Heelis is seeking an experienced Conveyancer to join us in our Residential Property Department based at our Windermere office.
The firm itself can trace its history back to 1822 and one former partner of the firm, William Heelis, married Beatrix Potter. The firm has built up a loyal client based across the South Lakes region. The firm prides itself on our service to clients which is delivered by a collegiate approach involving all members of staff.
Working in the Residential Conveyancing department you will manage a diverse caseload of conveyancing transactions, with assistance from members of the Residential Conveyancing team to ensure the highest levels of service are provided.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has experience of managing Residential Conveyancing files.
The role will involve:
- Manage your own caseload of Residential Conveyancing matters.
- Draft and review contracts, raise and respond to enquiries, and carry out title checks.
- Conduct all relevant searches and deal with the Land Registry and HMRC requirements.
- Liaise effectively with team members, clients and other professionals.
- Ensure compliance with AML, SRA, and firm policies.
- Provide excellent client care, maintaining high professional standards at all times.

DOCUMENT CLERK
Location: Kendal
The Role
Temple Heelis is looking for a dependable Document Clerk to join our team. You’ll be working in our administrative operations, ensuring our legal documents are processed, filed, and managed with absolute precision.
Key tasks:
- Preparing documents for scanning including remove staples, paper clips, and binding materials; straighten pages and repair damaged documents.
- Sorting through files and removing any original documents for separate storage.
- Operate scanners to convert paper records into digital formats, ensuring all scans are legible and accurately named.
- Quality control review digital images against original documents to ensure 100% accuracy and clarity.
- Identify records ready for disposal based on retention schedules, put into shredding bags and deleting digital records.
- Manage physical storage by boxing, labelling, and racking records in the storage area to maximise space efficiency.
- Ensuring strict confidentiality of all the firm’s and client’s documents and information at all times.
Skills & Qualifications
- Attention to Detail. Critical for ensuring no documents are missed during scanning or destroyed prematurely.
- Ability to use document management software, scanners, and standard office tools.
- Capacity to lift and move file boxes’ and shredding bags and navigate storage shelving in a high and low-level environment.
- Ability to work independently
- Confidentiality: A commitment to safeguarding sensitive information at all times.
- Candidates should be comfortable working in a storage setting that may be cooler or more enclosed than a standard office. The role involves periods of repetitive activity and being on one’s feet for long durations while accessing high or low shelves.
- No previous experience required and training will be provided.
Hours: Full or Part time hours considered, a minimum of 3 days per week between Monday–Friday 9am and 5pm.
Salary: £23,133.00 – £24,000.00 (full time equivalent, Pro Rata)
