A professional person has a duty of care to their client to perform their job to a reasonable standard and with reasonable care. If the professional fails to meet these standards this may result in their client suffering damage or loss.
In most professional negligence claims, there is a time limit of six years from the date of the negligence to make a claim. If the negligence has not become evident until later, this time limit may be extended.
