Caring and realistic legal advice from an experienced, down-to-earth team
Whether at the start of a relationship, or when things go wrong between adults, there are often difficult decisions to make regarding finances, property, future plans and aspirations, businesses, families and children, previous relationships and arrangements, and sometimes health issues.
‘Our 3 full-time Family law team members work with clients throughout the region in all aspects of family law, from the start of a relationship to when difficulties are encountered. We advise couples on pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, cohabitation, separation and divorce, and children in often very emotional circumstances.
We are trained not just as lawyers but as advisers, who work with clients at emotional and often challenging times in their lives.
Head of department, Andrew Hill, solicitor Lucy Clarke and their assistant, Wendy Blakely, work as a close-knit, full time team of caring and experienced Family Law professionals who spend time getting to know their clients and each person’s individual circumstances and offer realistic yet compassionate advice and support. No two families or situations are the same, so we will spend time getting to know you and listening to you. Our role is to ensure each client’s best interests are achieved, looking not just at the immediate, often emotional situation, but helping to shape a positive future. We always try and look at each situation through ‘your’ eyes not ours, while bringing our years of experience to help you.
As members of Resolution, the association of family lawyers, we are committed to encouraging a conciliatory approach, and to avoid confrontation and expensive court proceedings where possible. We will explore all options for resolving your matter, including mediation and a Collaborative Law approach and find the solution which best suits you.
We would like to help you. Feel free to contact Andrew or Lucy by email, by providing us with a little more information about your circumstances and the matter you need help with. Let us know when is the best time to contact you, and we will be happy to arrange an initial 30 minutes telephone conversation at no cost to you to find out how best we can help you. Alternatively, you can contact Wendy by calling our Kendal Office on 01539 723757 and she will be happy to take your details and arrange an initial meeting or telephone call.

We offer fixed fees for some types of work (for example divorce applications to Court). Following your initial free-of-charge telephone conversation, we may ask you to arrange a second, more detailed discussion, which can take place either face-to-face at one of our offices, by Microsoft Teams or by telephone.
