Temple Heelis Promotes Leading Family Lawyer

Leading Family Lawyer, Andrew Hill, has been promoted by Temple Heelis to the senior role of Associate. Head of Temple Heelis’s 3-strong Family team for 6 ½ years, Andrew has led the continued development of family services to clients throughout South Cumbria, creating a strong local team.

Describing the team as ‘caring and experienced, with a realistic and down-to-earth approach’, Andrew’s focus is to help through some of the most difficult and complex issues they face in their lives. Andrew advises on legal arrangements through all stages of relationships, whether someone is starting a new relationship or making a long-term commitment such as marriage or co-habitation, right through to separation, divorce and childcare arrangements when, sadly, family circumstances break down. Emotions are often running high and one of Andrew’s great skills is to help clients focus on the future and create outcomes which stand the test of time.

In a double celebration, Andrew has also been confirmed as a Family Law Advanced Solicitor for the 5th time by The Law Society. This is a recognised quality standard for highly experienced family law solicitors with extensive expertise in all aspects of family finances (including pre- and post-nuptial arrangements, cohabitation agreements, separations, family trusts, property claims and Inheritance claims) and private children law (including contact and residence, parental rights, grand-parents’ rights and Special Guardianship). Andrew also has experience in non-family litigation including property disputes, employment and housing matters and will be assisting the Dispute resolution department. Andrew has over 30 years’ experience in dealing with complex cases.

“I am really pleased that Temple Heelis’ Family team is recognised in both ways,” comments Andrew. “We are a closely-knit team which aims to give every client a really personal, supportive service at challenging and often upsetting times in their lives. It is really encouraging to see the firm’s recognition of our work through my promotion and also the Law Society’s acknowledgement of our expertise.”

Andrew is also a trained Collaborative Family Lawyer and member of Resolution, the UK’s network of family lawyers who aim to resolve issues in a constructive, rather than confrontational way, and which offers clients a different way of resolving the issues arising from a relationship breakdown together and avoid the need to use the court.

Commenting on Andrew’s promotion to Associate and The Law Society’s accreditation, Temple Heelis’ Managing Partner Jamie Hamilton says: “Andrew’s experience in both business and personal law gives him a tremendous ability to work with individuals and families through periods of high stress and distress. His great skill is to look at issues from the client’s perspective and bring his considerable expertise to help create a positive, workable future. Time and again, I hear from clients how compassionate and professional Andrew is in his approach.”

Jamie adds: “Andrew is also a well-known, regular commentator on family law issues and writes easy-to-read updates and blogs which can be found on our website as well as in learned texts. His promotion is really well deserved. He has led the development of our Family law services and heads up a cohesive, highly regarded team.”

Andrew has lived and worked in South Lakeland for over 28 years and is very active in the community, including as a Trustee of Cumbria Family Support and Contact Centres and a volunteer DJ with local hospital radio.
