Announcing its sponsorship of Threlkeld Cricket Club’s new Women and Girls Team, leading Lakeland law firm Temple Heelis is delighted to contribute to local communities and encourage sports clubs and activities.

With great enthusiasm and excellent winter training, the brand new team has begun the season with huge optimism. Unlike some opposing teams, Threlkeld Women and Girls’ Cricket Team didn’t have a sponsor until now. Thanks to Temple Heelis, the team now has brand new kit for the season ahead.

Temple Heelis solicitor and residential conveyancing expert Kerry Webster, one of the founding members, comments: “This is a new side and most players, myself included, had never bowled or picked up a bat before attending some winter training sessions.  We were, literally, ‘bowled over’ by the enthusiasm to form a new team and with an excellent coach, we are well on our way to chalking up a few early wins!”

Kerry continued:  “I was delighted when Temple Heelis stepped in as our sponsor.  It really shows how the firm encourages a work-life balance and the establishment of new teams such as ours.”  She added: “There’s a real connection between Threlkeld Women and Girls Cricket team and Temple Heelis as Beatrix Potter, who had many farms in the area, married one of our former partners William Heelis.  From all we know, Beatrix Potter was a great advocate of Lakeland life and I think she would have been particularly pleased to see the formation of this new team in rural Cumbria.”

Having strong family ties to Threlkeld Cricket Club, Kerry was very keen to help establish and promote the new team which has attracted members as young as 10 years of age, including her own daughter Eloise.  “The winter training was a fantastic idea on the part of the club and gave those of us with no experience of the sport the opportunity to learn the basics before the season started. “There have already been some great friendships formed and the commitment and determination shown by the members is admirable.”

Established over 200 years ago, Temple Heelis has a long history in Cumbria much like Threlkeld Cricket Club which can trace its roots back at least a hundred years or more.
