Temple Heelis ranked as leading firm in both Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500

We are delighted to have been listed recently as leading lawyers in two different legal directories, Chambers and Partners (in both the UK guide and the ‘High Net Worth Guide for Private Client’ work) and the Legal 500 directory.

Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500 directories rank law firms based on several different qualities including technical legal ability, client service and commercial astuteness.

The ranking process undertaken by each directory is rigorous. We were interviewed remotely by specialist researchers, and referees (being mainly our clients) were contacted for a discussion about our firm and the service we offer by the researchers. Based on all the discussions, as well as our detailed written submissions, the editors of the directories then assess us, and rank us in our region and specialism. The whole process spans about 8 months.

For Private Client and for Agriculture and Rural Affairs work, we have been ranked as leading lawyers in the ‘Carlisle and surrounds’ category for the Chambers and Partners UK guide and the High Net Worth Guide. In the Legal 500 directory, we have been ranked for both Private Client and for Agriculture and Rural affairs in their North West category.

Four of our solicitors have also been ranked as “notable practitioners” in their areas of specialism, including two of our Private Client partners, Jamie Hamilton and Robert Kornas, our partner and Head of Residential Property, Peter Dodd, and Yasmin Blamire one of our commercial property solicitors.

Jamie Hamilton, our firm’s Managing Partner, and Robert Kornas, head of our Private Client team advise high net worth individuals, business owners and landed families on wills, tax planning and estate administration.

As well as his residential property expertise, Peter Dodd also advises on a range of rural property matters. Peter’s specialisms include drafting deeds of easement and covenant, granting and varying leases and licences and making complex applications to HM Land Registry for first registration of land, rectifying titles, determining boundaries and make claims for prescriptive easements or adverse possession.

Yasmin Blamire specialises in commercial property work but also advises clients on a range of matters including farm business tenancies, financial restructuring of agricultural property, development of rural and agricultural land, option agreements, overage, auction sales, wayleave agreements and deeds of easement.

As with the research process for the legal directories, due to Covid, much of our work is also now being undertaken ‘remotely’ and has been the case since the first lockdown in March 2020. Despite the challenges of the Covid environment, we have pressed on with our other plans, including two new key appointments. Lucy Benton, previously with Napthens, has joined our Commercial Property Team, and Lucy Clarke who joined our Conveyancing Department as a paralegal, has been given a training contract with the firm.

As we move in to the New Year, we are continuing to develop the firm and invest in our people and resources, and the recent legal directory results will aid in our ability to recruit further new solicitors with additional specialisms, to add to the strength of our existing team. We are now in the process of preparing our submissions to the Legal Directories for 2021 and we hope to maintain or better our rankings this year.
