Lucy Benton Associate Solicitor, Commercial & Commercial Property

Lucy is a member of the firm’s Business Services team and heads the commercial property department.

Growing up in the hospitality business, Lucy has particular expertise in the region’s thriving visitor economy sector acting for buyers and sellers of iconic hotels, historical properties, large guest houses, and commercial investors and managers.  Lucy is often advising at times of dynamic growth or change in her clients’ businesses.

Lucy is at home handling land and property acquisitions and disposals, commercial leases, secured finance, and the myriad of complex property-related relationships throughout the region’s World Heritage Site and ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ where there are often multiple stakeholders, regulators and agencies involved (such as the National Trust, Lake District National Park Authority, English Heritage, Highways Agency, United Utilities and Forestry Commission).

Lucy is regarded as a lawyer who ‘knows her stuff inside out’, goes the extra mile and delivers outstanding service.

Joining DLA Piper on qualification and then relocating to the Lake District Lucy brings ‘big firm, big city’ expertise with in-depth regional knowledge and connections.

The Lake District is Lucy’s ideal place to live, giving her hours of pleasure walking on the fells, mountain biking, paddle boarding on the lakes and tarns, and open water swimming.

Lucy provided invaluable information and outstanding guidance throughout our transaction.  We will be using Temple Heelis and Lucy for all our future legal work, due entirely to the level of service and expertise which Lucy provided.  It was a real pleasure to work with her.
